Mini Monthly Round-Up | December
Little tidings we bring!
As the year comes to an end, it’s beginning to feel like Santa’s workshop with the team finishing up deliverables and preparing for holiday break. Just like in the BIG world, time flies in our miniature Canada and as we look back on 2018 we remember all that we’ve accomplished. From a successful investment raise to the completion of our Ottawa destination, plus the many little moments in between, there is much to be thankful for.
So, with that said, let’s jump right into this month’s news.
We’re continuing our efforts on Niagara with an interesting perspective we would love to share with you, we hosted a festive Christmas Social for King’s Christian Collegiate and there’s a BIG world mention from our friends at CBC for you to look out for during the holidays.
So grab your warm apple cider and read on for more on all this news.
A Little Trip Through Niagara
Ever wonder how our destinations come to be? Like any endeavour, a plan is needed to set everything in motion. Through creative collaboration amongst the team and a card-board mock-up for perspective and scale, a picture begins to emerge.
Envision a colourful skyline coming to life through hundreds of tiny LED lights. Canada’s Horseshoe Falls encapsulating a 228 square foot area with tiny tourists nearly escaping the drench aboard the Maid of the Mist. Use of video projection and sound design bring to life the elements of cascading water and roar of the falls.
Well, enough of me explaining it, check out this little teaser amazing 3D rendition created by lead destination designer David Domanski, for a sense of what wandering through the sights of Niagara will look like.
There will be more to report in the new year, so stay tuned! And, as we’re thick into the build of our Niagara destination, David has already begun to dip his toes into the icy waters of our Northern destination design. Brrr…
Getting Schooled On Lesson Plans From King’s Christian Collegiate
’Twas a night of good cheer as Kings Christian Collegiate held their annual Christmas Social at our pilot facility in Mississauga. Faculty, staff, parents and students gathered for a night of tasty bites, warm conversation and of course a journey through the sights and sounds of our miniature Canada attraction.
BIG world mention! | CBC Arts
Last month we hosted CBC Arts for a behind-the-scenes look into the build of our miniature Canada attraction. A five minute video segment that features some of our talented miniature artists will air on December 21st at 11:30 PM from CBC Art's visit, don’t miss it!
